Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
Hartley Community Daycare Center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to support nutritious meals and snacks for children. This federally funded program, supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered in Iowa by the Iowa Department of Education, helps child care providers serve nutritious meals and snacks.
Through CACFP, our meals follow USDA nutrition guidelines to ensure children receive balanced, healthy food while in our care. The program also provides reimbursement to help support the cost of providing high-quality meals each day.

CACFP Nutrition Standards
Meals and snacks served through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) follow USDA nutrition guidelines designed to support healthy growth and development.
Each meal includes a balance of food groups such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and protein-rich foods. CACFP also emphasizes serving a variety of foods, limiting added sugars and saturated fats, and providing age-appropriate portion sizes.
Milk, whole grains, and fresh produce are key components of the program, helping ensure children receive nutritious, well-rounded meals while in care.
